Great looking with excellent performance
After returning my second Dualit kettle since January this year (yes, two in six weeks) I decided to take the money (£55) and run.. so desperate to find a quality kettle for reasonable money... (£70 - £90 for the Siemans along with reviews could not be justified) I decided to plump for this cube design from Philips... to date I am more than happy with the performance, looks & most importantly build quality... the on/off switch at the base of the kettle even illuminates when on... nifty!

The one concern is the durabilty of the cream finish on the handle... both shops locally where I saw the kettle did have a rather poor example on display where people had indeed sent the cream more of a dirty sandy colour.. the coating had also stated to wear leaving a blistered look to the plastic. That said I simply put it down to the thousands of people who had simply handled this product in appreciation of its good looks.

Standard cordless features.. cord wraps around base etc.. White flex & plug though do look better in our kitchen with white tiles & sockets than the standard black flex & plug (how many people have black sockets!) you usually get with other stainless kettles
The 3kw power also makes a great deal of difference over standard kettles too. Only my fear of marking the cream handle beyond recognition prevents this receiving 5 stars.

Another superb kitchen appliance from Philips
Having recently purchased the excellent chrome toaster from Philips (model number HD2603), it seemed logical to obtain what is clearly intended to be its "sister" product this, the HD4603 kettle.

Im delighted to say that we are very happy with this robust and attractive product from Philips. As other reviews have stated, as kettles go it IS a little on the large side, and there are many cheaper options available too. However, personally I have no problem with the prominent nature of the product and after using it for a few weeks now Ive been continually impressed mainly with the speed at which it boils even a full amount of water.

If you are also looking for a new toaster, then I can highly recommend purchasing this and the HD2603 from Philips, as together they look great in the kitchen.

My only complaint with the kettle I suppose is that it is probably more power hungry than your average run-of-the-mill appliance. However, this is probably due to the impressively fast boiling speed, so you cant have it both ways I guess.

Overall then, I can genuinely recommend this kettle. A stylish and strong addition to any kitchen for sure.

Philips Cube Kettle
For the first few days it seemed to look huge on the kitchen counter as it is not tall and slim. However, I find it very convenient and so easy to use. The large spout is easy to fill so I dont have to remove the lid. The base is also convenient and neat. It boils in seconds. One negative point is that it makes a lot of noise. As it boils super fast, it roars and drowns out any conversation on my nearby radio. Overall, I like it.
